Vered Gersztenkorn
Born in Israel, 1964.
For Vered Gersztenkorn, The starting point of a painting is never planned or even known in advance, not even as idea or narrative.
The stain or line itself guides and leads while giving freedom to the casual and the spontaneous, in this way, with each painting she creates herself a fresh and challenging adventure.
A surprising journey that always seems new and exciting. Her work is curious, humorous and deals with the abstract, human beings, animals and distorted stillness, which only seem naive and childish.
In her abstract and figurative work, Gersztenkorn deals with the essence of her inner world in relation to her surroundings.
She paints spontaneously and intuitively, moving from the abstract to the figurative and combining the two in a way that first affects our senses and then our associations. Her painting style is based on the foundations of visual art – color, composition, contrasts, textures – and juggles between oppositions: figurative and abstract, line and color, delicacy and roughness, naivety and maturity.
