Tamir Muskat

Tamir Muskat – Painter / Musician I was born in 1972 to a family of artists. I began making art at the age of 6, mainly painting and music. During my teenage years I stopped painting and practiced music full time.

I moved to NYC and created there for over a decade. I opened Vibromonk Records in Williamsburg, Brooklyn – a loft that became a recording studio and a hub for art.
After a few years, it became one of the most vibrant art houses in NY and artists came from all over the world to work and create there. In NY I slowly returned to painting full time.
Today my work is spread around Tel Aviv’s streets. I make prints and video art for the band “Balkan Beat Box”.
I have collaborated with the clothing brand “ATA” and Ape Records. Since I stopped painting at an early age and returned to it many years later, it took me some time to see how to approach the canvas. It was clear that I couldn’t compensate for the years that went by.

As much as I spent time reflecting, weird lines and infantile characters started to emerge – wild, sad, funny and childish.

I fell in love with them since they weren’t forced. I didn’t try to paint like an adult. The subjects were adult issues – pain, beauty and the absurdness of life. But the lines and characters were simple, childish and in bold colors.
I paint what is close to me and what’s in my home – my love, my kids, and my parents.
