My artworks are all about searching. The longing to achieve the sublime has been leading me throughout my life. The years have taught me to cherish these priceless moments of searching even though, most likely, the sublime can never be really achieved. Sometimes, the search is the goal itself.
The glass paintings were conceived thanks to the convergence of several life events that seemed to have their own will.
After years of dedication to painting through observation, I’m letting go of my sense of control and allowing the rhythm of my body to lead me.
I use special Ferro’s ceramic powder, suited for glass, which contains gold. Once the painting is done, the glass goes through an overnight firing process at a kiln in high temperatures. At the firing process, the colors become integral to the glass and highly durable.
The brass, which holds and embrace the glass, was designed especially for these works, inspired by the image of the moment the sun kisses the sea at sunset.
I call these artworks medallions, reflecting the connection I find between the design of the mounting and the jewelry world.
